Wheelin’ Jazz Hoops it up with Piryx!
We’ve profiled many special causes, but this time we’re giving the ball to the Wheelin’ Jazz and Hull Foundation for Neurological Rehabilitation. The Wheelin’ Jazz is an elite wheel-chair basketball team based out of Jordan, Utah, and is part of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA). The league was founded in 1948, and has over 200 basketball teams across twenty-two conferences and seven divisions. The Wheelin’ Jazz came into existence in 1990, and also include a junior Wheelin’ Jazz team.
As mentioned on their site, the Wheelin’ Jazz organization strives to give those who are differently abled to participate at a high level of competition and further their athletic pursuits. They also want to serve as role models and peers to others who are also differently abled. The Neurowox and the Hull Foundation warrant special mention, as they’ve actively supported the team and their efforts. They’re a non-profit who provides therapy and rehabilitative services for individuals dealing with paralysis secondary to spinal cord injuries and similar neurological conditions.
Please visit their site, and learn how you can support this courageous group of athletes. Donations will support their equipment, training facilities, and travel expenses. Be sure to join in their Giving Stream and offer your words of encourage, and interact with other supporters of the Wheelin’ Jazz.
